Frequent questions

How do I know if my child needs treatment at an early age?

If your child has any of the major symptoms, such as early or late loss of baby teeth, the child usually starts losing them at age 6 and will have all of their permanent teeth at age 13.

It is also good to clarify that orthodontic treatment is not only for children and teenagers. In fact, 30% of our practice is adults over 21 years of age.

What is the difference between early treatment and regular treatment?

Early treatment or first phase usually starts at 8 or 9 years (the second phase starts around 11 years). The objective of early treatment is to correct maxillary discrepancies and certain dental problems such as crossbite. Other benefits is to obtain space and guide the exit of permanent teeth reducing the need for extractions

How do I know if I need orthognathic surgery?

The orthodontist is the best specialist suited to tell if this treatment is what you need to correct
your dental problems. Depending on the severity of the case and the intermaxillary discrepancy, you may need it or not.

When is surgery necessary?

This type of surgery can be used to treat adults with an inadequate bite. Maxillary molars usually stop growing at age 16 in women and 18 in men, and is at this point where you can perform surgery because the bones have completed their growth.

Why is it advisable to undergo orthodontic treatment?

It is necessary to have a good bite to prevent premature tooth wear.

It is also convenient to have the right teeth, not only for a beautiful smile, but also to have better access with a toothbrush, have healthy gums and teeth that, at the same time, raise self-esteem, giving you better quality of life and freedom to smile without being uncomfortable.

Is the endodontic treatment painful?

Definitely not. It is performed under local anesthesia that prevents the patient from presenting pain. After the last treatment and anesthesia, discomfort may appear on the chewing for a few days because of irritation.

Does whithening hurt your teeth?

No, but when carbamide peroxide, the active agent for bleaching, comes in contact with water, it releases hydrogen peroxide that whitens teeth. Whitening does not soften, demineralize nor weaken the teeth.

Is periodontal treatment expensive?

The cost may vary depending on the degree of severity of each patient’s periodontal problem. After being examined by the periodontist and established a treatment plan, the doctor can give an estimated cost. You should be aware that periodontal treatment is less expensive and healthier than replacing the teeth that can be lost due to periodontal disease.

What are porcelain veneers?

They are very thin sheets of porcelain that are bonded to the teeth firmly, achieving highly aesthetic results by modifying the shape and color of the teeth.
